Brow & Forehead Lift

Brow & Forehead Lift

Another customized and perfected procedure by Dr. Rostamibrow lift, also known as forehead lift surgery, is performed alone or in conjunction with other facial cosmetic surgery procedures, such as eyelid lift surgery to enhance the lifting effect of the upper facial area.

What Is Brow Lift Surgery?

Brow lift surgery, or forehead lift, is a surgical procedure with the goal of lifting the forehead entirely when the forehead has shifted down. It involves lifting the forehead skin, tissue and muscle to address the heaviness of the brows and forehead. The result is an improvement in the drooping of the eyebrows, as well as a significant reduction in horizontal forehead wrinkles and vertical frown lines between the brows.

Do You Need A Brow Lift Surgery?

You are a candidate for eyelid lift surgery if you complain of the following:

  • Having persistent excess skin on upper lids even after upper eyelid surgery
  • Heavy hooded upper lids that cannot be corrected with eyelift surgery alone
  • Deep horizontal wrinkles and lines on your forehead
  • Forehead has shifted down
  • A thick vertical fold of skin and frown lines rests between your eyebrows
  • Droopy saggy brows or outside corners of the brows

Your Eyelid Lift Surgery Consultation With Dr. Rostami

At Sanctuary Cosmetic Center, Dr. Rostami performs all brow lift surgeries at our Tysons, VA. location. Your consultation with Dr. Rostami will consist of a range of questions, to ascertain your needs and determine whether you need a brow lift, eyelid lift, or both. As a facial cosmetic surgeon and expert on eyes and eyelids, Dr. Rostami will include questions not typically asked by other surgeons. Her extensive training in the field of oculo-facial plastics, allows her to evaluate not just the eyelids, but also the position of the eyebrows. If the brows or forehead has fallen, they can contribute to the amount of excess skin on the upper lids, and create folds of skin across the bridge of the nose, as well as heavy wrinkles on the brow. She will then suggest the right brow lift technique for you.

Eye Brow Lift Surgery Techniques With Dr. Rostami

At Sanctuary Cosmetic Center, Dr. Rostami will perform your surgery on-site, in our state of the art, certified Surgical Suite.

There are various methods to fixing eyebrow and forehead droopiness. Dr. Rostami will determine which of the following approaches to adopt in order to secure your best results:

Direct Eyebrow Ptosis Repair is for patients with very heavy foreheads, especially older male patients with thicker forehead skin. An incision is made directly above the eyebrow or furrows of the forehead, and the elliptical skin of the area above the eyebrow is removed.  It is very important to assess the area prior to surgery in order to prevent over-correction or under-correction.

Internal Eyebrow Ptosis Repair is done in conjunction with Upper Blepharoplasty.  Through the same incision, the lateral third of the eyebrow is dissected, and the lateral eyebrow is lifted with suturing the eyebrow to the covers of the bone (“periosteum”).  This is a great procedure for ladies who desire high-arched eyebrows.

In a Trichophytic Eyebrow Lift, an incision is made along the hairline to lift the skin of the scalp all the way to the eyebrows, which lifts the forehead completely. With this method, forehead wrinkle lines are also addressed and glabellar lines are removed as well.  This procedure is good for patients with thick hair who do not want to have their hair pulled back, since the scar at the hairline may be visible.

Endoscopic-Assisted Eyebrow Lifts are much more complex procedures and should be performed in an outpatient surgical center controlled setting. Incisions are small and are made inside the hairline, giving very little visible scarring.  This is a better procedure for men with frontal hair loss. However, if the patient has a heavy forehead, the lift usually does not hold and fails quickly.  This lift has other limitations, including long foreheads and very curvy foreheads.

You expected recovery time should range between a week to ten day depending on the surgical approach, your age and general health.

Q & A

What are the benefits of brow lift surgery?

Your forehead will be smooth and lifted and your upper lids will be raised giving bigger, brighter eyes and younger, more rested appearance.

What are the risks of brow lift surgery?

As with any type of surgical procedure, infection, scarring and swelling are some of the risks associated with brow lift surgery. Risks that are specific to brow lift surgery would be discussed with you at the time of your consultation.

What is the cost associated with brow lift surgery?

The cost of your surgery will vary from one surgeon to another and whether your surgeon’s fee is inclusive of anesthesia and facility charges. Most surgeons will only quote a fee at the time of consultation.

What’s in it for me?

Wrinkled forehead, droopy eyebrows and deep furrows between brows are signs of aging. A drab, angry expression throws off the balance of the face. Brow lift surgery results in an improved lifting of the upper facial area, resulting in a perfect positioning of the eyebrows. Ideally, your results will make your eyes appear larger, your forehead smoother, and your overall facial expression refreshed and happy.
