What is Otoplasty?
Otoplasty, or ear surgery, is a procedure designed to improve the harmony of the ears with the rest of the head. It’s sometimes referred to as “ear pinning” because it can address protruding or overly large ears, flushing them against the head and reducing their prominence.

Am I A Good Candidate for Otoplasty?

Many otoplasty patients have grown up with large, noticeable ears that are the subject of teasing or self-consciousness. The Otoplasty Procedure
Otoplasty is a minor surgery that doesn’t require general anesthesia. Dr. Rostami can use a number of techniques to reduce the size of the ears, bring them closer to the head, or both. The incisions are typically placed in the natural contours behind the ears, reducing visible scarring. To reduce the size of the ears, Dr. Rostami will remove cartilage and reshape the ear. To bring them closer to the head, Dr. Rostami will “pin” them back with sutures. Afterward, you can return home for your brief recovery.

Otoplasty Results
Otoplasty requires minor downtime afterward, as well as wearing a specialized garment to keep the ears against the head while they heal. Dr. Rostami will provide aftercare instructions regarding sleeping since you will need to avoid putting pressure on your ears. Within 1-2 weeks, you’ll be able to enjoy your results, and any residual swelling will fade over time. Since the ears generally don’t change with aging, you can enjoy long-lasting results with otoplasty.
