Board Certified Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon
Breast Lift, also known as Mastopexy, is performed to lift and perk up sagging breasts by removing excess skin and tissue in order to tighten, reshape and define the breast contour.
What is a Breast Lift surgery?
Breast lift surgery aims to lift the breast through incisions placed in a variety of different ways depending on the size, shape and extent of sagginess in the breast. Dr Hakki’s extensive training and years of experience have allowed him to differentiate and choose the appropriate placement of his incisions resulting in a minimal amount of scarring. Also Dr. Hakki takes carful consideration into the position and size of the areola, which can dictate the approach he will be taking, as well as the pattern of his incisions. He can place the incisions:
- Around the areola only, when the breast is small with a minor amount of sagginess
- Around the areola and straight down from the areola to the breast fold, when the breast is heavier and has more sagginess
- Around the areola, straight down and straight along the breast fold, when the breast are large and have a major amount of saginness.
Once the incisions have been made and placed in the right pattern, Dr. Hakki will lift and reshape the breast tissue, reposition the nipple and areola for a more new natural placement, and if necessary, reduce the size of large areolas.
What causes breasts to sag?
Over time, breast tissue ages along with the rest of the skin in the human body. Suspensory ligaments that hold up a woman’s breast tissue stretch with the changes associated with childbirth, breastfeeding, aging or weight changes. Additionally, a loss of fullness in the upper part of the breasts may occur resulting in a significant loss of cleavage. Women will often resort to wearing uncomfortable, tight push-up bras to lift the breast and reclaim the cleavage they possessed in their youth. A breast lift can restore the youthful and perky breasts women seek to have.
What if a Breast Lift is not enough?
Oftentimes, too much sagginess and loss of cleavage cannot be corrected by simply performing a breast lift. Or a breast lift may simply leave you with too small of a breast or no fullness in the cleavage area. If what you want is fuller breast, then consider a breast lift with breast augmentation surgery. The benefits of combining both surgeries are two-fold. The breast implant fills the skin envelope and essentially helps in lifting the breast while dramatically restoring upper breast fullness and cleavage. By regaining proper nipple positioning from the breast lift and a voluptuous cleavage from the breast augmentation, not only do you gain a more youthful breast, but also you will feel more youthful and self-confident.
