More Younger People Want Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic Surgery

Over the years, the stigma surrounding cosmetic surgery has significantly faded. So much so, that younger generations now view anti-aging treatments like Botox and dermal fillers as a routine part of self-care, similar to a haircut or going to the gym.

Therefore, it’s not surprising that more younger people want cosmetic surgery than ever before.

So, why are aesthetic procedures on the rise for millennials?

Here’s everything you need to know about the motivation, trends, and preferred treatments among younger patients.

Why Do More Younger People Want Cosmetic Surgery?

Top plastic surgeons and dermatologists are noticing that an increasing number of young women and men are seeking cosmetic surgery. Many of these patients are undergoing treatments as a form of pre-juvenation and to slow signs of aging, rather than correct them.

In fact, a recent RealSelf study revealed that parents with children and female millennials aged 18-34 are the most likely to consider cosmetic surgery.

Which Treatments are Trending Among Millennials?

While some younger patients are interested in surgical procedures, like breast augmentation and liposuction, a vast majority of individuals under 30 want subtle enhancement from non-invasive treatments.

Accordingly, preventative Botox, chemical peels, laser treatments, and energy-based procedures are extremely popular among millennials.

In fact, of the 110 members of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, 72 percent have observed an increase in injectable treatments for patients under 30. What’s more, they predict that we will continue to see an increase in early maintenance treatments for younger patients.

What Are Younger Patients’ Top Concerns?

More younger people want cosmetic surgery to address existing concerns and prevent the development of new issues. They also gravitate towards non-surgical options like Botox that provide natural, yet noticeable enhancement.

Most of all, this group of patients hopes to delay the aging process, while looking like refreshed versions of themselves. A number appreciate the fact that friends and family can’t tell that they’ve had anything done – just that they look healthy, well-rested, and vibrant.
